CRAFTY JAY
Judith from Crafty Jay has always been interested in Art and Craft, but never had the time to be able to explore it. Most of her career had been in the NHS but after leaving is finally able to pursue making beautiful and useable items.
The name Crafty Jay emerged after watching the Jay bird that frequents her garden during the winter eating from the bird table and taking up to ten peanuts before flying away! Judith is a potter, throwing mainly mugs, jugs, bowls, and items for the home, all stoneware. Adding to these are porcelain buttons, decorative hearts, tiles and a few brooches. She also makes cushions, bags, and zipped purses, some of which are fabric designs she has had printed. Judith absolutely adores fabric, so nothing goes to waste. Cards are made using off cuts of fabric, ceramic hearts, buttons and beads. Judith's workshop is in the Blackdown hills in Devon. The pottery is attached to the house. She uses an old wheel and has two electric kilns. There is also a dedicated sewing room, so you could say she has taken over most of the house! |
